If your main concern is things melting, I would use the vinyl over foam method. Also, you can find all the materials you need at a home development store for the foam over vinyl method. With the foam over vinyl method, you’ll have more mobility but the armor pieces will bend and move with your body. However, styrene is not something you can just walk into a hardware store and find, you have to order it online. The advantage of working with the styrene version is the armor will be hard yet flexible since styrene is a plastic. My other option was to actually use the vinyl over foam method as previously mentioned in one of our other posts. First was the styrene over craft foam route as made popular by Amethyst Angel. I was planning to use them and these are the most comprehensive set I have seen.Ģ) Materials - There were two routes I was going to take on this automail. Good luck!ġ) Patterns - I found some here at Amethyst Angel’s site. Please take a look at one of our previous posts on this method, which will hopefully help! It will give you maneuverability and not likely to melt under high heat. It’s basically paper patterns that can be printed on cardstock.Ģ) Materials - Vinyl over foam is my suggestion for this. Updated to include both Ed and Al info!ġ) Patterns - Pepakura patterns will be your best friend.
